DISASTER MANAGEMENT & PREVENTION
CORE MANDATE
The Disaster Management and Prevention unit assists the planning and implementation of programmes to prevent and/or mitigate disaster in the MMDAs within the policy framework of national policies.
As part of its preventive role, the unit assists and facilitates education and training of volunteers to fight fires, etc. and organizes public disaster education campaign programmes.
The Disaster Management and Prevention unit ensures that there is an adherence to rules in respect of private and public properties to ensure adequate protection against disaster.
