AGONA WEST SCRAP DEALERS PLEDGE SUPPORT TO MCE IN FIGHT AGAINST THEFT AND INDISCIPLINE

27TH MAY 2025

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Eric Gyamfi Odoom has held a meeting with executives of the Agona West Scrap Dealers Association, a meeting whoch was seen as a positive step towards addressing the rampant indiscipline and theft within the municipality.

In a move that signals their commitment to restoring order, leaders of the association proposed the formation of a joint taskforce to crack down on unscrupuloud individuals particilarly truck pushers, who tarnish their trade.

The MCE in his response, did not hide his displeasure on the activities of the scrap dealers and the numerous complains he's been having and the security challenges facing the municipality which is directly linked to the activities of the scrap dealers. He rightly pointed out that unregulated activities fuel social vices and called for intensified collaboration to flush out the rogue elements within the industry for the benefit of all genuine operators.

The MCE also took the opportunity to caution the scrap dealrs against purchasing items suspected to be stolen, warning that they will also be held accountable if found in possession of such items. I urged them to remain vigilant and to provide the sucurity agencies with information regarding suspicious items brought to them.

With both parties in agreement, the meeting concluded on a promising note as they reaffirmed their shared commitment to safeguarding Agona West's security, promoting better sanitation and working towards the municipality's ovarall development.
